Ultra-Violet Radiation and Actino-Therapy

چکیده
This little book, written in a charming literary style, is an exposition of our knowldege of radiation in general and the application to medicine of the rays of that part of the spectrum known as the ultra-violet region. In his foreword Sir Oliver Lodge says it is a book dealing with a comparatively new and highly promising subject by people with medical training, physical knowledge, and extensive and rapidly growing experience, and therefore should be welcome. The earlier chapters are devoted to physical and chemical considerations. Then follows a chapter on technique. The remaining chapters are concerned with

2-Chlorophenol Removal of Aqueous Solution Using Advanced Oxidation Processes Resulting from Iron/ Persulfate and Ultra Violet/ Persulfate
Background: Advanced oxidation processes are used to remove toxic aromatic compounds with low biodegradability, such as 2-chlorophenol. This study investigates the use of Sulfate (SO4-) and persulfate (S2O82-) radicals, as one of the advanced oxidation methods, to remove 2- chlorophenol from aquatic solutions. Materials and Methods: This experimental and pilot-scale study was carried out usi...
متن کاملThe Influence of Ultra-violet Radiation on the Weight of Adult Rabbits, Normal and Syphilitic
In summarizing the results obtained for these 6 groups of animals, the following conclusions may be drawn: Normal rabbits living in total darkness and exposed to ultra-violet radiation at regular intervals showed a more rapid rate of increase in weight than animals living under the same condition, but after an initial period of rapid increase, the irradiated animals maintained a lower body weig...
متن کاملStructural, Optical and Ultra-Violet Photodetection Properties of ZnO Nanorods with Various Aspect Ratios
ZnO nanorods with various lengths were synthesized by a two-stage route (by changing the time of growth between 0-240 min) and were characterized using XRD, SEM, UV–Vis and PL techniques. The SEM and XRD results confirmed a fast growth of (0 0 2) plane in the preferential longitudinal orientation, in contrast to lateral growth and therefore, by increasing the time of hydrothermal growth, nanoro...

متن کاملThe survival of bacteria in dust: III. The effect of light on the survival of bacteria in dust.
Sterilization of air by ultra-violet radiation is effective when the organisms are dispersed in droplet nuclei, the smallest particles being the most vulnerable (Wells & Wells, 1936; Bourdillon & Lidwell, 1948). Airborne bacteria, however, are also carried on dust particles shaken from textiles or swept from the floor, and against these ultra-violet radiation at intensities higher than those no...
